Welcome to YCS Düsseldorf 2019

Hello and welcome to YCS Düsseldorf 2019! It’s the first YCS in Europe this year and we are starting the year with a bang! Taking a look back at previous events North-Rhein Westphalia they have always been on the larger side. Until YCS Utrecht last summer, YCS Bochum held the record for the biggest YCS in Europe. This time everything has changed!

YCS Düsseldorf exceeded all our boldest expectations. For security reasons we had to cap YCS Düsseldorf at 2.400 Duelists. But the line was still huge and we had to make a decision. We tried our best and were able to set up another YCS at a hotel close by. So, for the first time ever in YCS history we will be hosting two YCS events in the same city at the same date. The second YCS is scheduled to for another 600 Duelists!
Düsseldorf is the capital city of North-Rhein Westpahia and, in all honesty, a lot more interesting than Bochum (unless you are into Starlight Express). The whole metropolitan area is one of the most densely populated areas in Europe. There are more than 10 Million people living in this area, therefore making this almost always the biggest events of the year. This time the attendance took us by surprise, and we tried to make the best out of it. We improvised and set up a second YCS within hours. We did not shy any cost and effort to provide you with the best experience possible and we are proud to announce YCS Düsseldorf 2.

YCS Bochum almost always has some surprises in store for us. Last year, we had almost cracked 2k for the first time and the Top 8 were full of crazy surprises. In the end, Marco Perico from Italy won with his World Chalice deck. For this event we have more than 2.100 Duelists in YCS Düsseldorf 1, which has already started. For YCS Düsseldorf 2 registration is still open and running. The final numbers will be updated as soon as they are available.
Two weeks prior to this YCS we had YCS Chicago where Raphael Neven took a surprise victory running Lunalight. Please take a look at the deck breakdown:

10 Sky Striker
9 Danger! Thunder Dragon
1 Thunder Dragon
2 Subterror
2 Crusadia
1 Trickstar
1 Prank-Kids
1 Cyber Dragon
1 Pendulum Magician
1 Danger!
1 Danger! Orcust
1 Danger! Lunalight

The metagame is prone to changes due to the release of the Structure Deck: Soulburner for this event.

We will be playing 9 rounds of Swiss today and 3 more tomorrow. Then we well be cutting the field to Top 64 and continue with the Knock-Out Rounds. As usual there will be a huge number of Public Events. Feature Matches will be on our live stream on Twitch and YouTube. On written coverage, we will be focusing on Quick Questions, Interviews and Pubic Events. Of course, this content will be accompanied by Strategy Content in order to provide you at home with all the ideas and innovation players came up with. Stay tuned for all the action at YCS Düsseldorf 2019.
