Hello and welcome to YCS Utrecht 2020! What better place to start off a new year than Utrecht, where we hosted the largest European YCS ever. YCS-Utrecht-day1-wasserzeichen-11

In 2018 Utrecht hosted the largest European YCS even with almost 2.400 Duelists entering the Main Event. After having more than 1.800 pre-registrations on Friday we already knew this would be big! Overall, this is the largest YCS ever, apart from special events like #200. We have 2.227 Duelists in the Main Event, making this even bigger than YCS Düsseldorf. Thanks for all of your excitement and for showing up in Utrecht! For all of those who couldn’t make it, we will provide you with a lot of great coverage content from this event on all our social media channels. After having a record-breaking year in 2019, where almost every event hit the cap, we are hoping to continue this trend in 2020 and Utrecht is a great start!

Nico Schlierkamp

In 2018 Nico Schlierkamp won his 1st YCS title, beating Dinh-Kha Bui in an all Germany final. Nico piloted Sky Striker, whereas Dinh-Kha ran Burning Abyss. For this event we expect a completely new metagame, due to the latest Forbidden & Limited List. A lot of Duelists appreciated the banning of Engage and picked up an archetype from the past: Shaddoll. The recent release of the Structure Deck made the cards easily accessible to everyone who wants to play the Deck. In the US we are hosting a Team YCS in Las Vegas this weekend as well! Some of the European Duelists took the chance to go there and take part in the Team YCS. Should you be interested in checking out the coverage for YCS Las Vegas, you find the coverage overview here. We will be playing 9 rounds of Swiss today and 3 more tomorrow. Duelists with 18 points or higher are allowed to play on in Day 2. Then we well be cutting the field to Top 64 and continue with the Knock-Out Rounds. As usual there will be a huge number of Public Events. Feature Matches will be on our live stream on Twitch and YouTube. On written coverage, we will be focusing on Quick Questions, Interviews and Pubic Events. Of course, this content will be accompanied by Strategy Content in order to provide you at home with all the ideas and innovation players came up with. Stay tuned for all the action at YCS Utrecht 2020.
