Markus Burtchen

Name: Markus Burtchen
Age: 23
Country: Germany, Berlin
What Deck are you playing today? Pendulum Magician, I felt like it was the best Deck going into this event. My build is special. I wasn’t keen on fair mirror matches all day, so I decided to build it my way.
How do you feel about your chances of winning today? They are 25%! Actually, I’m pretty confident. My Deck is quite strong and consistent as well.
Any tech cards you want to let the world know about? Number S0: Utopic ZEXAL, the Deck is built around bringing the card out as quickly as possible. The card basically says: my opponent can’t play Yu-Gi-Oh!.
Final words? Shoutouts to my Team 7th sense, to all the people who lend me cards and all of my friends.

Evangelos Argyris

Name: Evangelos Argyris
Age: 26
Country: Greece, Heraklion
What Deck are you playing today? True Draco Demise, I felt it was the best choice against all the popular Decks in the format. Anti-Spell Fragrance and Master Peace, the True Dracoslaying King can shut down a lot of the Decks.
How do you feel about your chances of winning today? I feel super confindent and with some luck I feel like I can win the event.
Any tech cards you want to let the world know about? I maindeck Amano-Iwato. When I open it, I normal Summon it and my opponent cannot respond to my actions anymore. The card basically forces my plays through. The card was gorgeous all weekend long.
Final words? I’m really proud of topping the largest YCS in Europe up to date. Thanks to all of my friends for playtesting and shoutouts to Christos Anestakis for the mental support.

Niklas Krebs

Name: Niklas Krebs
Age: 19
Country: Germany, Mühlheim/Ruhr
What Deck are you playing today? Dino Shadoll 60 card Deck – it has a great match up against Pendulum.
How do you feel about your chances of winning today? The Deck is not consistent enough. At first, I expected a 1:3 drop when going into this event.
Any tech cards you want to let the world know about? Shaddoll Fusion is the key card of the Deck. It gets the whole engine going. Other than that, I would call the whole Deck tech.
Final words? Shoutouts to all of my friends who came here with me.

Marco Perico

Name: Marco Perico
Age: 20
Country: Italy, Bergamo
What Deck are you playing today? World Chalice, basically I run the Deck since it was released. It is explosive and consistent. That’s characteristics that a lot of the Decks in the current metagame are lacking.
How do you feel about your chances of winning today? I can’t believe I made it this far with the Deck. I only lost one match the whole two days. I feel like I have an advantage, because most of my opponents don’t know how the Deck works.
Any tech cards you want to let the world know about? Rescue Ferret and Eva – there were both devastating.
Final words? Shoutouts to all my friends that came here with me and my girlfriend. “VOGLIO LA BESCIAMELLA”

Tayfun Bayraktar

Name: Tayfun Bayraktar
Age: 21
Country: Germany, Saarbrücken
What Deck are you playing today? Zefra – I wanted to choose a Pendulum Deck that can run a lot of handtraps as well.
How do you feel about your chances of winning today? I’m very well prepared against all the current Decks. I’m might get unlucky and meet World Chalice. All the rest is beatable.
Any tech cards you want to let the world know about? PSY-Framegear Gamma was the best handtrap all day.
Final words? Shoutouts to CardSportsLeague.

Kristoffer Nielsen

Name: Kristoffer Nielsen
Age: 20
Country: Denmark, Kopenhagen
What Deck are you playing today? Pendulum Magician – it has the best chances for winning an event like this. The Deck has the most powerplays and it is consistent enough for 11 Rounds of Swiss and Tops.
How do you feel about your chances of winning today? I want to win!
Any tech cards you want to let the world know about? I run three of D/D/D Leonidas. It was really good and helped me out a lot.

What Deck are you playing today? Mekk-Knight Invoked – I could’t get my hands on the 2nd Electrumite, so I couldn’t play Pendulum and I wanted to test the Deck anyway.
How do you feel about your chances of winning today? I feel quite some pressure going into the Top 8.
Any tech cards you want to let the world know about? Invoked Elysium won me a few games but in general, the whole engine was good.
