24.02.2019 | 15:41
After 9 Rounds of Swiss and one more Knock-Out Round, the field was trimmed down to the 8 most successful players of YCS Düsseldorf 2. All of them put in a lot of work to get where they are now. All of them were very happy that we upgraded the Mega Regional to a full YCS and for most of them it made up for the confusion on Saturday morning. Here are the Top 8 Duelists of YCS Düsseldorf 2.
Name: Bart Ladru Age: 20 Country: The Netherlands How do you feel right now? I’m really happy, it is the 1st YCS I ever went to outside of my country. I’ve been to Utrecht before and entered this event with very little expectations. Actually, I’m very happy to be here. Yesterday, I was upset that I couldn’t enter the event, but I think the situation, considering the circumstances, was handled very well. I was happy to play in a YCS after all and the Hiltan was great! What Deck are you playing today? Lunalight – I saw Raphael do very well with the Deck at Day 1 YCS Chicago. I immediately bought the core for the Deck after Day 1. He was running the Danger engine as, but I couldn’t get my hands on the cards. So, I had to play the pure version of the Deck. Instead of going 2nd I want to go 1st and throw Outer Entity Azathot on the table. Any awesome tech cards you want to let the world know about? It’s just Lunalights I guess. Final Words? Shoutouts to my people from local and that I borrowed cards from.
Name: Mirko Dolce Age: 25 Country: Italy How do you feel right now? I’m good! It’s been a while since my last YCS top. In fact, my last YCS top was London in 2013. I took a break for the game and returned 2018. It feels good to be here again. What Deck are you playing today? Salamangreat – it’s basically a standard list. The way the Deck works suits my playstyle best. I love to play contral-style oriented Decks. It’s also able to maindeck a lot of handtraps. The Decks also seems to be least vulnerable to the dice roll. Any awesome tech cards you want to let the world know about? I run Droll & Lock Bird in my Side Deck. It put in a lot of work for me this weekend. Final Words? Shoutouts to my friends who lend me cards and to my local store Fumettopoli Arezzo.
Name: Riccardo Zaramella Age: 23 Country: Italy How do you feel right now? I’m fine, it’s my first YCS top. Yesterday, I was very sad that I had to play a Mega Regional eventually, but they upgraded it to a full YCS and now I’m sitting here smiling. What Deck are you playing today? Sky Striker going 1st – I think it is still the most consistent Deck in the metagame and I feel very confident with it. Any awesome tech cards you want to let the world know about? I decided to Main Deck Heavy Storm Duster instead of Twin Twisters, because I expected a lot of Altergeist for this event. Final Words? Shoutouts to my friends, to my teammate Francesco, whom I travelled here with, and of course to my family as well.
Name: Fabio Zuccato Age: 20 Country: Italy How do you feel right now? Very happy to top another YCS. After not topping the whole of 2018, I’m pretty happy to be back again. I felt sad for the people who couldn’t enter, and I was happy that Konami provided an alternative YCS for all those who could not enter the Main Event. What Deck are you playing today? Danger! Thunder Dragon – I thought it was the best choice for this event. This format is still wide open, and I felt like this was the best Deck to enter this event. Any awesome tech cards you want to let the world know about? I run Sekka’s Light in the Main Deck. The card was awesome all weekend. I think that this Deck would be even more powerful if I had Chaos Emperor, the Dragon of Armageddon. Final Words? Shoutouts to my friends Luca Poker, Marco Perosa for the travel, Pierluigi Sorrentino for playing my same Deck, Ed Acception for the list and AM for the cards. Last but not least to my mom who got angry, because I did not shoutout her in Prague.
Name: Elia Carelli Age: 24 Country: Switzerland How do you feel right now? I’m excited and euphoric. It’s my 2nd YCS top after Brussels in 2013. I glad they upgraded the event to a full YCS. What Deck are you playing today? Danger! Thunder Dragon – I think it’s the best Deck at the moment. Basically, the Deck is a team effort. My team helped me build the Deck and I feel confident with it. Any awesome tech cards you want to let the world know about? m fiend was my sleeper pick in the Salamangreat Match-Up. They have a hard time handling the card. Final Words? Shoutouts to my Team Mountain Owls.
Name: Marcel Hansch Age: 21 Country: Austria How do you feel right now? Great, another YCS Top in my record. I’m glad I was able to improve and finally make it to Top 8. My next goal is to win my 1st YCS. What Deck are you playing today? Sky Striker – the Salamangreat Match-Up is very skill intensive. The Mirror Match is very challenging as well. And since I’m very well prepared, I expect to win both. The control aspect of the Deck is what keeps me coming back to it. Any awesome tech cards you want to let the world know about? I run Summon Limit and There can only be one – against Combo Decks that are going 1st and Salamangreat. Final Words? Shoutouts to my family and my girlfriend, Tabernacle Martin & Stefan, all the guys from Linz, Paul, Patrick, Flo, Maxi and last but not least Peter and the rest of Austria.
Name: Philip Weidinger Age: 22 Country: Germany How do you feel right now? All good, I’m happy to be here. Top 8 was my 1st goal, now I’m aiming to win the event. What Deck are you playing today? Sky Striker – I was playtesting a lot and the less combo Decks are in the format the better the Deck gets. So far, I’m happy with my decision. I still have to lose a match. Any awesome tech cards you want to let the world know about? Called by the Grave was the MVP card of this weekend. It’s good against almost any Deck. Final Words? Shoutouts to Team G.Y.M and especially to Marvin, David and Reiph who build the Deck with me. Thanks to Andreas Koller for lending me cards.
Name: Tobias Sommerfeld Age: 16 Country: Germany How do you feel right now? It’s my first top 8 and I feeling fine. The Deck was good and I’m confident with it. What Deck are you playing today? Sky Striker – it was the only Deck I had available. It’s also the Deck that I’ve played a lot and I feel confident with it. Any awesome tech cards you want to let the world know about? Engage was the MVP card. A single card that does it all! Final Words? Shoutouts to all the people who came her with me. Dinh-Kah Bui, Kurz Simon, Rasmus und Lukas Bomber, and Julien Übel.
