YCS Düsseldorf 2019: Top 8 Player Profiles

24.02.2019 | 18:39 |

After 12 Rounds of Swiss and three more Knock-Out Round, the field was trimmed down to the 8 most successful players of YCS Düsseldorf 1. All of them put in a lot of work to get where they are now, some got lucky as well. Here are the Top 8 Duelists of YCS Düsseldorf 2.

YCS, Düsseldorf 2019

Name: Daniel Bondarenko
Age: 17
Country: Germany
How do you feel right now? It’s my first YCS ever. At first, I was very nervous going into the event. But after going 6:0 I felt very relieved. I noticed that I’m able to beat all the good players on site. I gained the confidence to come this far. Of course, the support of my friends helped out as well.
What Deck are you playing today? I went with Salamangreat – it’s easy to get the cards and the Deck is consistent enough to go through a 15+ Rounds event. I also tried to build me Deck towards winning the Mirror Match. I haven’t lost one.
Any awesome tech cards you want to let the world know about? I run D.D. Crow and Called by the Grace in the Main Deck.
Final Words? Shoutouts to Team E-Man Games for their support and my friends Artiom, Jakob, Oskar for helping me build the Deck.

YCS, Düsseldorf 2019

Name: Jannes Würtenberger
Age: 22
Country: Germany
How do you feel right now? I feel good! This is my 1st YCS top overall and I’m happy I finally did it. At all the other events I lost on the bubble. From now on, I will take it game by game and see what comes next.
What Deck are you playing today? Salamangreat – it was the Deck I had most fun with. My other options were Sky Striker and Altergeist, but this Deck seemed like the obvious choice.
Any awesome tech cards you want to let the world know about? My tech is luck!
Final Words? Shoutouts to my Team Freilos, to Sven Rebmann, Stuttgart and Neugereut in particular.

YCS, Düsseldorf 2019

Name: Dinh-Kha Bui
Age: 22
Country: Germany
How do you feel right now? Very good! To be honest, I did not expect to be here this time. I run a Deck that I didn’t expect to do that good, but somehow it seems like history repeats itself.
What Deck are you playing today? Dark Warrior Danger! Orcust Hybrid – the Orcust combo seemed very interesting and I wanted to build a Deck around it. The Deck is versatile enough to go 1st and 2nd, so the dice roll is not as important as it is with other Decks.
Any awesome tech cards you want to let the world know about? Nothing in particular.
Final Words? Shoutouts to my Team Seventh Sense, to all the people that came her with me, especially Rasmus and all the guys from Berlin.

YCS, Düsseldorf 2019

Name: Nicolas Nebe
Age: 25
Country: Germany
How do you feel right now? Excited, it is my 1st YCS top-. I never even made it to Day 2 of a YCS and now I’m here. I feel like all the preparation and playtesting finally paid off.
What Deck are you playing today? Salamangreat – I like it a lot. Most of the time, the first turn is the same, but the later turns tend to get very complicated and reward the more experienced player.
Any awesome tech cards you want to let the world know about? I run [e tele] as an additional extender. It helps to get your engine rolling even if you are not holding Gazelle.
Final Words? Shoutouts to my friends from Chemnitz and my wife.

YCS, Düsseldorf 2019

Name: Jonas Koschel
Age: 21
Country: Germany
How do you feel right now? Good, my goal was to reach the Top cut, but I don’t mind sitting here. After YCS Chicago this is my 2nd YCS Top 8 in a row and I think my 6th overall.
What Deck are you playing today? Salamangreat – generally speaking, I like variety and like to try out new Decks. During playtesting, it was the one Deck that performed best.
Any awesome tech cards you want to let the world know about? Fusion of Fire: I run one copy in the Main Deck and two in my Side Deck. It was pretty good all weekend long.
Final Words? Shoutouts to Team E-Man Games and to all the guys that helped me build the Deck.

YCS, Düsseldorf 2019

Name: Thomas Rose
Age: 23
Country: UK
How do you feel right now? Pretty excited, I’ve only been in the Top 8 of YCS once before!
What Deck are you playing today? Danger! Orcust Hybrid – I run 48 cards and basically tried a very similar strategy like in Liverpool. I put a lot of Side Deck cards in my Main Deck. I run 38 cards for going 1st and 10 more card to go 2nd.
Any awesome tech cards you want to let the world know about? Neo Space Connector was pretty good this weekend. My Deck is almost identical to Ping Xiau . We played each other in the top 16, which was very unfortunate. I was pretty sad I kicked him out. Now, I want to make it as far as possible. If I had to knock him out, I want to make it worthwhile.
Final Words? Big thank you to Team Kuribrohs and most of all to my girlfriend.

YCS, Düsseldorf 2019

Name: Can Tari
Age: 16
Country: Germany
How do you feel right now? Very good, I’m proud I made it this far.
What Deck are you playing today? Subterror – I feel like it has the best Salamangreat Match-Up and I only lost to one Salamangreat the whole weekend long.
Any awesome tech cards you want to let the world know about? Super Poly – just check out the Feature Match to see what the card can do!
Final Words? Shoutouts to my team Legacy Card Gaming and to all the guys from Munich.

YCS, Düsseldorf 2019

Name: Patrick Grempel
Age: 25
Country: Germany
How do you feel right now? Great! This is my first YCS Top 8. I’ve already topped Nationals but YCS are something completely different.
What Deck are you playing today? Danger! Thunder Dragon – it was available and before it would get hit by the Forbidden & Limited list I wanted to give it another chance.
Any awesome tech cards you want to let the world know about? I run three copies of Levianeer. It was my MVP card this weekend.
Final Words? Shoutouts to my Team 0-4 Drop, we are currently trying to form a new team and we are looking for sponsors.
