YCS Sydney 2020 Public Event Winners

16.01.2020 | 13:59 |
For those players who didn't do too well in the YCS Main Event, there are plenty of cool Public Events to play. This includes on demand Win-A-Mat's, Attack of the Giant Card and even Mega Regionals. They all award some great prizes and cater to both people wanting to play some quick tournaments and people who want to play larger scale tournaments. As an additional incentive to play Public Events - towards the end of the day are two tournaments where the winners get a copy of this years prize card Duel Link Dragon, the Duel Dragon. The first tournament invites the four players who accumulated the most points from entering Public Events and the second tournament invites four random players who entered any Public Event. Here are some players who won some Public Events. Glen Azize Prize Card Play Off Winner Winner of Prize Card Play Off #1 Name: Glen Azize   Age: 27   Location: Sydney, NSW   How are you feeling right now? I’m feeling pretty stoked. Back to Back Play Off champion! Boom!   What Deck did you play and why? I played Salamangreat for most of the day because I was comfortable with it.   How do you feel about Public Events? I think they’re really good. It gives people incentive to show up on day 2. The public play off encourages you to play as many of them as you can. I'm keen to make it 3 years in a row next year.   Do you have any shout outs or last words? Shoutout to Bohdan Temnyk, Jesse Kotton and Raphael Neven for helping me get the Deck ready and preparing. Shoutout to Luke Campisi, he also helps me out a lot.   Luke Petito (Prize Card Playoff Winner Winner of Prize Card Play Off 2 Name: Luke Petito   Age: 28   Location: Adelaide, NSW   How are you feeling right now? I’m feeling absolutely ecstatic right now. I never imagined a world where this would have happened!!   What Deck did you play and why? I played Altergeist. It was the Deck I was most familiar with and it has a good shot in the current metagame!   How do you feel about Public Events?  I think they’re really good and fun. The staff are nice and handle it well. Definitely keen for the next format though!   Do you have any shout outs or last words? Shoutout to Team X Site in Mt Barker Adelaide. Special shoutout to Paul Swansson and Nick Catt for Deck recommendations and being top blokes.   Andy Liu Mega Regional Winner Winner of Mega Regionals   Name: Andy Liu   Age: 26   Location: Sydney, NSW   How are you feeling right now? I feel a little swindled because I misread the prize list. I thought I was going to win a Chaos Emperor, the Dragon of Armageddon. It turns out I won a Number 89: Diablosis the Mind Hacker instead.   What Deck did you play and why? I played Sky Striker Orcust because that was the only Deck I was able to borrow off my friend this weekend.   How do you feel about Public Events?  They’re ok. I play them when I’m upset after not doing well in the main event.   Do you have any shout outs or last words? Thank you to Yaowei for lending me the Deck. Thanks to Carl for lending me the cards that Yaowei didn’t have. Thank you to the German player who swapped his German cards with me. Raphael Neven ( Giant Card Winner)   Winner of Attack of the Giant Card Event     Name: Raphael Neven   Age: 22   Location: Rotterdam, Netherlands   How are you feeling right now? I’m still disappointed about my performance in the main event but I’m looking forward to the next event - YCS Las Vegas!   What Deck did you play and why? Sky Striker Orcust because it’s the same Deck I played in the Main Event.   How do you feel about Public Events?  I usually don’t play in them because I’m normally performing better in the main event. I really like the 3v3 Public Events they have overseas because they’re on Friday I get extra practice alongside playing with my friends and I hope they bring it to Australia. I also hope they get 3v3 Main events in Europe!!!   Do you have any shout outs or last words? Shoutout to my mum who paid for half of my trip, all my friends in Duelist Academy and Team JRBJobber. Also to all my friends in Australia who hosted me this event!
