Deck Profile: Johann Collecchia’s Shiranui Lightsworn

While Metalfoes and ABC Decks might be stealing the show, there are plenty of other powerful Decks going under the radar here at YCS Sydney! Among those is a Shiranui Lightsworn Deck, played by Johann Collecchia from France! He’s piloted this Deck to a 3-1 record at the end of Round 4, so we decided to talk to him and take a look at how his interesting strategy worked!

So, tell us about your Deck. Why did you decide to bring it to YCS Sydney?

Johann: “I think that PSY-Framelord Omega is a very powerful card, and I wanted a strategy that could Summon it as much as possible and use it to its fullest potential. The combination of Shiranuis, Lightsworns and some other cards make this the best Deck possible to do that.”

What are your expectations for the event?

Johann: “I’ve tested this Deck a lot, so I think I can make it to Day 2. If I did, I would be very happy!”

“Do you have any Tech cards in your Deck?”

Johann: “It’s not so much a tech card, but Fairy Tail - Snow has become very popular recently and it’s great in this Deck. Since I send a lot of cards to the Graveyard it’s easy to Summon and use. Peropero Cerperus is amazing here, as it can destroy cards when you take damage and can be reused by Omega. I tried Electromagnetic Turtle but found Peropero to be much more useful. Breakthrough Skill is great in any Deck that mills itself and you can reuse it with Omega. It’s a strong pick in my Deck for that reason.

What’s the best opening hand?

Johann: If I start with Brilliant Fusion, Raiden, Hand of the Lightsworn and Instant Fusion, I can make 2 PSY-Framelord Omega and make my opponent start with 2 less cards in hand. This easily gives me an advantage to take over the game on the next turn.

How do the Shiranui monsters affect the Deck?

Johann: Shiranui Solitaire is a one-card Omega, since you can use it to Summon Uni-Zombie, which sends Mezuki, which Summons back the Solitaire. Shiranui Spiritmaster destroys an opponent’s card when it’s banished, which works great with Fairy Tail - Snow since you can do it at any time, and return it with Omega!

Anything else you’d like to add?

Johann: I’d just like to thank everyone who lent me cards, especially Mickaël for lending me the Minerva, the Exalted Lightsworn!

Best of luck in your future rounds, Johann. We hope you make it to Day 2 and even further!
