Deck Profile: Mitch Harris’ Metalfoes

We’ve just finished Round 9 here at YCS Sydney, and we’ve seen a ton of great Duelists on the top tables today! Among them was Mitch Harris, a 20 year old from Melbourne who’s achieved a 7-0-2 result with his Metalfoes Deck so far. We had a chat to him to talk about his card choices, and learn a thing or two about the Deck! Here’s what he had to say.

So Mitch, tell us about your Metalfoes Deck. Why did you decide to bring it to the event?

Mitch:
”When the Deck was released in [tdil], it looked really interesting and I had to try it out. I played it as soon as it came out and tried to learn the Deck as best I could. When YCS Sydney was announced, I knew I wanted to bring a Deck to it that I’d been playing for a while so that I was comfortable. Since I like Pendulum Summoning and I’d played the Deck so much, it was the obvious choice to play.”
What did you expect coming into the event?

Mitch:
”I expected to do well, I wanted to get to Day 2 but I didn’t know if I’d make Top Cut. I thought that I would’ve done worse than this in my first YCS! I expected there to be a lot more Paleozoic Decks here this weekend, with Metalfoes and Paleozoic being the most represented.”
Did you have any Tech cards?

Mitch:
”They’re not really tech cards, but I’m playing a 44 card Deck, and including some of the extra cards in my Metalfoe Deck. I’m using the Qli engine with [q scout] and [q mono] for easy Pendulum Summons, plus [bw gofu] which helps to make [vod] with [ma bun]. It’s a good mix of a lot of the cards you see in different Metalfoes Decks all put together.”
What are some of the best opening hands you can get with the Deck?

Mitch:
”If I open with [s art] or [q scout], I get a great start with [cydra inf]. With a couple Metalfoes well I can make a [mf alk] as well as Infinity, and with [ma bun] I can get a first turn [ma kir]! I’ve had two situations where I’ve also drawn Dimensional Barrier thanks to [mf fus] after these plays, which pretty much won me the game.”
Anything else you’d like to add?

Mitch:
”Shoutout to Liam Debono for telling me to main the Barriers, and shoutout to Isaac, Ryan, Onur, Thomson, David and Finlay!”
